Ferguson Food Fight

3208 North Arkansas Ave., Russellville

Have you ever wanted BBQ but your family wants fish, so someone has to relent? Thankfully, you’ll never have to settle again. The Ferguson Food Fight food truck, just north of Russellville, offers both.

I had the pleasure of meeting Erin Ferguson when she greeted us and asked what we wanted to try. We got to sample nearly everything on the menu, and, spoiler alert, it was all good.

The Mississippi-raised catfish donned a signature golden color but wasn’t overly breaded, and the french fries were coated with a seasoned salt that made the perfect pairing. The true test of a classic Southern catfish meal is hushpuppies, though, and these were packed with flavor and a kick of heat.

The pulled pork, polish sausage, ribs, and sliced beef were expertly smoked and prepared so that the flavor of the tender, juicy meat is what stood out. The BBQ sauce on the side was a sweet and tangy combination of flavors. Really, it’s the ultimate “draw” of the BBQ sauce food fight – Carolina meets Texas in battle.

But wait – is it even a meal without sides and dessert? The baked beans tasted tomato-based but not overly sweet, and the coleslaw was the refreshing crunch I was hoping for. And, the creamy, fluffy banana pudding with crunchy ‘Nilla Wafers was the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

So what’s the moral of the story? There’s nothing to fight about when you visit the Ferguson Food Fight food truck.
