It’s not always in like a lion and out like a lamb, but March is, perhaps, the most waffling of months. The River Valley March experience could be flip-flops and shorts sunshine, bone-chilling dampness, muggy mornings followed by thunder-rolling nights, several inches of snow, or sometime all of the above. Sometimes all in the same week.
It’s these multiple personalities that I find most appealing about the month because I’m all about some contrasting combinations… which is the perfect segue into our featured indulgence for this issue’s Valley Vittles — Piney Bay Coffee Company’s Irish Pepper.
It’s a straightforward drink with only three ingredients that you likely never thought of mixing together: cold-brew coffee, Irish cream, and Dr. Pepper. It’s a trio absolutely — and maybe surprisingly — made for each other.
The smooth cool of Irish cream perfectly compliments coffee and cola’s dark earthy tones. And then there’s those bubbles accenting the concoction with a carbonated fizz and snap. Mix the components, pair the potion with PBCH’s chonky signature blueberry muffin, and you’ve got the ultimate beverage and breakfast combo for an undecided time of year.
